On the night of April 2nd, 2014 at the Iridium Jazz Club in NYC, the life of Karl Cochran as well as many people in his life was rocked. Approximately 10 to 12 hours after that show Karl suffered a massive stroke. That is something that most people would think only happens to the elderly and unhealthy among us, which couldn’t be further from the truth.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, stroke is the fifth leading cause of death in the United States, and approximately 800,000 people per year have a stroke. On average, one American dies from a stroke every four minutes. It hits all ages, gender, race, and socioeconomic background. Infants, healthy young adults, and the elderly, can all suffer a stroke. While not everyone will have one, nobody is immune from it.
