May is National Stroke Awareness Month, the perfect opportunity to spread the word about stroke. Did you know that a stroke can happen to anyone, at any age, and at any time? There was a spike of 44% in the number of young Americans hospitalized due to stroke over the last decade and there is a clear trend toward increasing stroke incidence at younger ages. It is critical that we unite and educate the public about stroke. 800,000 people have a stroke each year which accounts for one out of 20 U.S. deaths. Yet 73 % of younger Americans are not familiar with the signs of stroke or the need for urgent medical attention. Help get the word out by educating your friends, family and co-workers about stroke!
